I like my new lence

Every year stores have sales in January, conveniently right after Christmas. I have for some time been looking for a new lence for my camera after I started to enjoy photographing scenery but also animals, such as birds. The problem was that I could not get close enough with the stock 18-55 mm lence that came along with the camera house. Now, back to the sale. I noticed on an online store a tele zoom lence for sale. It is a Sigma lence and not Nikon. But hey, I save at least three thousand NOK because of the name. This lence is 70 - 300 mm. That is better zoom than my binoculars to put things in perspective. The best part of this is that it actually works. I was a bit worried since the lence had to have a focus motor in it, the camera house does not have such thing. My research payed off. If I add the new lence to the new tripod and the external blitz it is starting to look professional.

Happy victory day

The first quiz of 2011 took place yesterday at the regular place. Attendance was quite good, not sure how many people participated, but I might estimate around 45-50. Since we are all history students the majority of the questions are related to the pensum from the introduction courses plus some random questions. As usual one could spot a pint here and there, something else would be surprising. Now then, teams were five or six people on each team. If you are familiar with this type of event you would know that one take a great pride in the team name. My team ended up with Wuthering Knights", quite neat if I would say so. Maybe "The Hopeless Ones" would have been better but it was suggested after the whole thing was over. Kind of shame, really. If I had to evaluate my own performance there would not be that much to evaluate I am afraid. Things I know are more or less things that might be in the random facts quota. I do not mind, though, since I am the semi-official paparazzi. So if anyone of you out there are friends of mine, they can be seen on the usual website.
