The fire station

The tower in the centre is part of the local fire station. It was used in the old days for drying the hoses and other equipment after use. I do not think the tower serves any purpose today. A gold colored weather vane stood on the top, made by my maternal grandfather but I do not where it is now, maybe a storm took it and the vane rests now in the sea.

Birkely

This house called Birkely is one of the oldest houses here on Stokmarknes. It is built within a residence area known for big and well kept gardens. The picture confirms that its golden days have passed; the garden looks like a jungle and the house itself is no longer what it used to be.

I have noticed that people are visiting this page although there are not that many comments. What I do not want to do is to whine about that but it sure would be nice if you left a comment or two. Not much, a "cheers" is enough. :) That makes it much easier for me to continue.

Spiderweb on the outside of a window. A tree in the yard makes the background.

I think it is a full moon. If not, it is very close.

This one was taken at a lake called Teiganvannet. This group of Norway Spruce contains the only speciments of Spruce in the area. Furthermore, they stand rather secluded from the rest of the trees.

This horse stood outside the longhouse at Borg. It seemed like it stood on display, overlooking parking area. I guess he is quite fond of the visitors.

The barn

This barn is not special. The photo is just a snapshot I took from the passenger seat while we drove home from Teiganvannet. I do like the look of old buildings, though.

What we see here is the mountains in Lofoten far, far away. In the foreground we see the hills on Hadseløya.

Which is better, this or the previous?

This one, and the next one, is a gate you have to go through in order to reach the lake Teiganvannet. Here, the colors are almost as you would see during the autumn.

The Church in the parish of Hadsel, just a snapshot as we drove past it.

What we see here are the mountains in Bø. I do not think I would call it a mountain range, but quite impressive none the less.

Part of the city, mostly private homes. In the top corner on the left you see a bit of the city. The foreground is on top of a mountain, some three to four hundred meters above sea level.

Langhuset på Borg

This is the longhouse at Borg, Lofoten. The earliest settlement, from the area around the house is from around 500 AD. The house is of course a replica, but the remains of the original is on the other side. If you are near Borg, I suggest you stop by.
